Soap-making classes by Sharon Johnson

Soapmaking Photo

Professional Soap Maker Sharon Johnson, YouTube’s Hot Process Queen, will be teaching all the basics of Fluid Hot Process Soap Making!   She also owns her own soap making and natural skin care business called Rose of Sharon Essential Skin Care, and also creator of the SJHP/SBHP, Sharon Johnson Hot Process/Stick Blend Hot Process Method.  This 3-hour class is completely hands-on.

Once you complete the class you will be able to make 10-Minute Fluid Hot Process soap on your own using the SJHP/SBHP method. This class is perfect for those who want to learn to make soap at home as a hobby. The classes are small so you will get personalized attention while getting hands on experience. Each student will make and take home a loaf of “ready-to-use” soap (4-5 bars) made in class. Each student gets to choose the color and scent of your loaf of soap.
Introductory Course Cost: $99 includes SJHP/SBHP Hot Process Soap-making eBook Tutorial and Recipes (retail value $69), which you may download immediately, materials fee, safety gear, and loaf of soap to take home (retail value $35).
Next classes are downstairs in Breakables Studio.

New concept coming to our mosaic studio…jewelry mixology

If you’ve visited over the last month and wondered what’s going on inside our mosaic studio, we have a surprise.  Our artist-in-residence Kim is giving our mosaic studio a facelift and making room for a hot boho jewelry trend of jewelry mixology!   This will be a walk-in, mix your own collage of charms, pendants, trinkets and baubles on vintage-look chains or hand-dyed ribbons.    Breakables Mosaic Studio will still be inside what will soon be called “The Trinket Bar”…(and we will FINALLY have a sign over our 4th space in our 4300 sq ft building!)    Our pottery pick up area will be moved to this side of our building, too.  We’re excited to launch all these new changes for Mother’s Day weekend!

So, our Junk Market Jewelry became so popular over the last couple years, we decided to expand it.   It’s such a great walk-in gift idea because it can be totally personalized and assembled in minutes or take as much time as you want treasure-hunting for just the right charms for your necklace, bracelet, key chain or even book mark.    Gift boxes and tiny little bags are complimentary when you purchase a chain or ribbon.

Remember, our Tea Largo and PicassoZ gift cards all work in all of our spaces, even for our Party Loft for a group outing!

Yes, our Trinket Bar will be open the same hours as PicassoZ as of Monday, 4/18.

Mosaics & CaNdLes

Looking for something creative to do you can take home with you?   Our walk-in mosaic studio, Breakables, is adjacent to Tea Largo, with cafe style seating so you can “break away”, relax, and create.

When we moved to our Cleveland Heights studio in December, one of the most exciting things we did was expand our mosaic studio!    For almost a decade, our mosaics were in “bits and pieces” on a wall in a corner of our studio.   It was surprising how popular they were for how little space they had.  Being a self-taught mosaic artist, the mosaic side of our building is my favorite!   It’s got loads of glass, ceramic, sea shells, and even drift wood pieces to work into your project.

Our shapes are visible and nicely displayed on the walls, and we even added ceramic words, letters and specialty baubles that are available at a minimal charge that can really make your piece pop.  Mosaics go home with you, so they are a wonderful activity if you drive in to spend the day with us in our silly building of creativity.

ChuNky CaNdLes belonged in our Breakables Studio too, since many of the candle wax options we have to build your candle with are indeed breakable.   We make slabs of thin colored candle wax that breaks apart, and then looks like a beach glass.   Of course, candle chunks are still on hand, for building a pillar mold candle or a glass jar candle, with your choice of fragrance!

Breakables is open:

Wednesday-Friday 10-6pm

Saturday 10-9:30pm

Sunday 12-6pm

Spring BREAK week features mosaics, of course

Yes, we at PicassoZ love a good play on words.    So, we’re playing up the “break” and loaded up promotions in our Breakables Mosaic Studio.   If you haven’t visited yet, its really grown in popularity as a nice, relaxing environment to create in.   It has a different vibe than PicassoZ, and is a little more sophisticated, but not much, LOL.   It’s still walk-in, and still DIY.  But with mosaics, you can take your creation home with you!    Our hours are a little different in Breakables, 10-6 and this Spring Break week, we’re open

Monday-Friday 10-6pm

Saturday 10-10pm

Easter Sunday all our shops are closed.

See our event calendar for an assortment of fun mosaic specials, and even some that celebrate the fact that it still is Easter Week!
